Pre-Construction Planning

Whether you have a selected a home plan or you choose to work with one of our recommended architects, we’ll collaborate with you to ensure the pre-construction process is smooth and efficient. Our first step is to understand your goals for your home. Then, we’ll help you understand your options. As an experienced custom-home builder accustomed to the challenges and opportunities of building a home, we always come to the table with solutions and ideas. Throughout the pre-construction process, we’ll work closely with you and/or the architect to create a design that ensures your home is built exactly to your needs and specifications.

Based on your construction plan, our contract with you is designed to be as detailed and transparent as possible. The cost of your home is clearly stated, and an accurate schedule describes exactly when you can expect each stage of construction to be completed. Before building materials are ordered, we work very closely with the client to outline a strategic and agreeable plan for staying within the desired project budget.

The same Cornerstone customer commitment in constructing a custom home can be found with renovations, tenant improvements, additions or small re-model projects. One of the key differences in a renovation project is the fact that you will most likely be living in your home while your renovations project takes place. Cornerstone takes great care to respect your home as work progresses and takes pride on our reputation in meeting and exceeding the expectations of our renovation customers.

Keeping You in the Loop

Throughout the construction process, open communication is key. We invite you to ask questions, and you can rely on us to be responsive, informative and honest. If you live locally, regular site visits and walk-throughs will be scheduled. If you’re out of town, we are diligent about providing regular status updates and photos. We’ll help you through the process of selecting your finishes, appliances and fixtures and facilitate your requests for upgrades or changes.

While we take every step possible to avoid snags in the construction process, unforeseen issues do occasionally arise. Once we identify anything, no matter how small, that might alter the construction plan, we are committed to proactively finding a solution and to communicating openly with you every step of the way. You’ll find that a benefit of choosing a small company such as ours is that there is no cumbersome chain of command. As an exceptionally hands-on owner, Dennis is always willing and able to quickly solve any issues on site.
